Digital with Purpose Global Summit 2023

In September 2023, The Carbon Games participated in the Startup Portugal Pitch Competition during the Digital with Purpose Global Summit, held from September 27–28 at the Altice Arena in Lisbon, Portugal. Organized by the Global Enabling Sustainability Initiative (GeSI), the summit brought together global leaders from government, industry, academia, and civil society to explore how digital innovation can accelerate progress toward the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Pitching Sustainable Mobility at Scale

As one of four selected startups, The Carbon Games had the opportunity to pitch our Event Carpooling solution—designed to make event-based travel more sustainable, efficient, and community-driven. Built to reduce transport-related emissions at large gatherings, the tool uses behavioral nudges, intelligent pairing, and route optimization to encourage shared mobility before and after major events.

More than just a carpooling tool, this solution contributes to broader goals of reducing traffic congestion, lowering emissions, and promoting a culture of climate-conscious travel. 

We were proud to share the stage with fellow innovators Windcredible, SEAentia, and eBreathie—each tackling different dimensions of sustainability, from renewable energy to aquaculture and air quality.

Enabling Digital Solutions for Global Goals

The Digital with Purpose Global Summit, led by GeSI, positions digital transformation as a driving force behind climate action, inclusion, and resilience. The 2023 edition focused on turning ambition into action, with in-depth panels on topics such as responsible AI, digital equity, sustainable infrastructure, and environmental data governance.

By showcasing early-stage, impact-driven startups, the pitch competition reflected the summit’s core mission: aligning digital innovation with global sustainability outcomes.

For The Carbon Games, the summit was an opportunity to engage with stakeholders across sectors and demonstrate how targeted, data-informed solutions like Event Carpooling can meaningfully support decarbonization efforts in everyday settings.
